During the year, CIDA visits UK colleges and universities on the lookout for students using colour in outstanding ways. One of the highlights of the year is a trip to Norwich University of the Arts where course leader for Fashion and Textiles, Kate Farley @norwichuni_textiledesign holds an annual industry awards event to mark the end of the degree course.
She invites industry experts to judge the work of her students on everything from craft and commercial viability to the use of colour. It’s a fabulous initiative that has a hugely positive impact in the students and prepares them for their creative careers ahead.
This year the work was even better than ever and our winner of the Colour in Design Award ‘One to Watch’ was Megan Merhar @meganm.textiles with her stunning collection of printed fabrics inspired by the mysteries and magic of space.
Runner up was Rose Higgins @rosetextiles.x for her sunshine infused collection of textiles which involved complex layers of colour that glowed with life.
