‘Land and Sea’ is my graduate collection of unique textile designs, hand dyed yarn and wearable accessories. My home in the Shetland Islands has had a huge impact on the work I create and it was these stunning islands that were the basis for ‘Land and Sea’.
Intensive research culminated in my dissertation entitled “How Environment and Place Have Influenced the Shetland Knitwear Industry”. I am passionate about textiles and knitting, the history, the process and what the future holds for the industry. Keeping skills and craft alive is of upmost importance therefore being passionate and having good craftsmanship at the heart of my work is of great value. I see myself as someone who can play a part in the future growth of the creative industry in this area.
