Meet the judges 2020 - RUSSEL WHITEHEAD & JORDAN CLUROE AKA 2LG STUDIO

What role does colour play in your life/work?

We have created a life for ourselves that is wrapped in colour, from the table we eat at to the shoes we wear to the colour we paint our nails. Colour is a passion for us, it never lets us dow, it always lifts us and it allows us to express ourselves in the most universal of languages.

Toughest lesson learnt when you were starting out?

People will take advantage. People will take from you. People won't value you, you must value yourself.  Learning to trust your instincts and being strong enough to hold your ground and not lose sight of your style.

Highest creative point in the past year?

Writing and launching our first design book: Making Living Lovely - Free your home with creative design. http://www.2lgstudio.com/2020/02/03/making-living-lovely/

Creative goal?

To be the change we want to see.

Best bit of advice for shiny new colour creatives

If it's right it may feel like a struggle, but don't give up. It's rarely easy. Tenacity is key.

Favourite colour and why?

Pink because it can be as bold as it can be neutral. While it was once a colour that signalled softness or even (wrongly) weakness, it has become a sign of difference and bravery and openness and we love the powerful new movement in design that has embraced pink. We believe in a non-binary world where all colours are for all and it feels like pink has been a significant battle ground for that. Beyond that, Pink makes us feel very happy.
